Go The Tan for for Friedreich Ataxia research
Emma Jones was diagnosed with Friedreich Ataxia at just eight years old. Since then, she has attended Go The Tan every year with her classmates from St Vincent de Paul Primary School.
Now 11 years old, Emma and her grade 6 classmates will attend the Go The Tan Media Launch at 12:30pm on Friday 12 February 2010. Their hope: to raise funds for research into finding the very first treatment, for this so far, incurable progressive disease.
Emma and her whole year level will be rubbing shoulders with radio personalities like Matt Tilley and Jo Stanley from FOX FM, Melbourne Storm NRL premiership players, AFL legend Anthony Koutoufides, Neighbours stars Margot Robbie and Sam Clarke, Underbelly star Madeleine West, sports commentator Andy Maher and many more. At 12:45pm on Friday 12 February, these stars will then battle it out in Go The Tan's celebrity challenge.
From 1pm-5pm on Friday 12 February and 8am-3pm on Saturday 13 February the course will be open to the public - enter now before early bird entries close at 5pm today (Tuesday 9 Feb)! The fastest official Tan time from a member of the general public is Clinton Baxter's 2009 time of 12:23.
So, come down for the media launch at 12.30pm Friday 12 February, watch the celebrity challenge and after your lap, relax on the lawns, listen to the music and enjoy a sausage sizzle, a FREE Nestle Heaven ice cream and bottle of water in the sunshine.
