Elite’s and ITU juniors look towards Race 4
Well done to everyone who participated in Race 3 of the XOSIZE Tri Series on Sunday 17 January at Peter Scullin Reserve, Mordialloc. Special mention must go to the 385 participants who took on the early New Year challenge of the Sprint Triathlon Enduro, swimming, riding and running the course twice.
In the men’s race, Brent Schuster and Simon Carey lead the way with Brett Cooper dropping back to the tight pack behind them in the first run leg. Brent (47:22) and Simon (47:29) stayed together until the last run, where Brent crossed the finish line seven seconds ahead. Brett came third in a time of 48:27.
Brent Schuster was a 2009 World Championship medallist and is looking towards competing in more local races. He will undoubtedly be gearing up for the Australian Sprint Distance Championship at Race 4 of the XOSIZE Tri Series. Similarly, Simon Carey will be looking toward the ITU Junior National Championship Series also at Race 4 of the XOSIZE Tri Series.
In the women’s race, Elise Clayton (54:42) finished approximately one minute before Kirsten Norden (55:45). Camille Hudson placed third in a time of 57:18. Elise Clayton is also expected to compete in the ITU Junior National Championship Series.
Congratulations to Georgie Connor who registered her information with Gravity Zero and thus won a Gravity-Zero 50mm alloy carbon wheel set. Congratulations also to Cameron Simon and Martin Durkin who won Orca wetsuits, Scott Bristow who won a K-SWISS shoe voucher and Megan Gooey, Patrick Burt and Gary McAllister who won PowerBreathe Inspiratory Muscle Trainers.
