No disguises needed
It wasn’t the Dark Ages but just back in 1967 in Boston, when women were not allowed to run marathons, Katherine Switzer became the first woman to finish a marathon under the name KV Switzer.
There will be need for such subterfuge required at the Brazilian Butterfly Queen of the Lake on Sunday, 7 February and that goes for the blokes at Australia’s longest running women’s event – that is open to all.
It will be fun – at least at the finish and fashion – with a 2XU high performance runway show afterwards at Albert Park Lake for those running or walking either 5km or 10km.
So even if there is a lot of merriment coming up by early January there will be plenty of time to implement your New Year fitness resolution and be ready for the “Queen”.
